About
Strategy, design and build—handled by one person.
I’m Clare Langley, an independent website designer and developer based in Kent. I work directly with each client from the first conversation through to the finished build—no account managers, no handoffs between departments, and no brief that’s changed by the time it reaches the person actually doing the work.

How I work
Questions first, then design.
Before any design decisions are made, I work through what the business needs to achieve, who the website needs to convince, and what people need to be able to do once they arrive. That thinking shapes the structure and the content—the visual design follows from it, not the other way round.
It means every project looks different, because every business is different. There’s no house style being reused from client to client—just a consistent way of working through the problem.

Background
A background in customer experience, not just visual design.
Before focusing on website design and development, my background was in customer experience, service transformation and operations—understanding how people actually move through a service, where they get stuck, and what changes when a process genuinely works.
That’s the thinking behind every website I build: the visual design matters, but it only works if the structure underneath it is doing its job—helping the right people understand, trust and take the next step.

Begin with a clearer brief.
You do not need to arrive with every answer. The planner helps establish what the website must achieve, what customers need to do and which practical requirements shape the project.
